About SRM Institute of Science and Technology
Established in 1985 as SRM Engineering College, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has grown into one of India's top-ranked private universities with over 50,000 students and 3,200 faculty across four campuses in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
SRMIST is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with the highest 'A++' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institution is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and has been granted autonomy by the UGC.
Our main 250-acre campus in Kattankulathur, near Chennai, features state-of-the-art infrastructure including smart classrooms, advanced laboratories, a central library with over 5 lakh volumes, and separate hostels for men and women with a capacity of 15,000 students.
The university has established academic collaborations with over 150 leading international universities including MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, and National University of Singapore, providing students with global exposure through student exchange and joint research programs.
